I decided yesterday to go out and create something small, but see what I could do with it.. I chose the rose. And using this tutorials I slowly built up my rose model.

I then wasn't sure how to pose my rose, or present it and of course I thought of beauty and the beast. SO here is the inspired beauty and the beast rose.
My tests below are all about lighting, its the most infuriating yet satisfying thing with 3D.
(I wanted the 'Disney' glow)
Here I decided my marble table needed some bump mapping.
By this point everything I was doing was minimal and half the time I didn't even have a clue. So I pause to look at my maps. Texture, bump and transparency.
(under the petals, adds a little colour)
Here this confused me... I still wouldn't be able to tall you straight off which colour is see through and which isn't. But basically black and white invert it, bam. White seems to keep the texture actually, now I think about it.
My style is quite sketchy, rustic, and experimental which shows in my textures.
And so.. I finally started to get somewhere with my lights, I just wasn't totally happy.
Thanks!
